Deep Vein Thrombosis Symptoms
Thin muscles are there in the arteries that control the amount of blood that pumps through the heart to other parts of the body. However, this is not the case with the veins. They do not have any muscle lining that give significance to them. This is the reason for the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis.
Physiology is the only thing responsible to return the pumping blood. Large muscles are there in the body that will cause the veins to squeeze, and this will cause the blood to return to the heart. The activities that move the body gets the responsibility to move the blood to the heart.
Two veins are there on the legs of human beings. First is the superficial, and second is a deep vein. As the name suggests, deep veins are there deep in leg muscles. The flow of blood starts from the superficial veins, and then it enters the system of deep veins.
One-way valves are there in the perforate and superficial veins that allow the flow of blood in heart’s direction. This is only done when the veins gets squeezed. When the venous system develops a blood clot due to improper supply or transfer of blood, then it can be dangerous for the person. This situation can be denoted by the term deep vein thrombosis.
It becomes life-threatening when the clot or deep vein thrombosis gets damage or starts breaking up a bit. In this condition, it will travel to the pulmonary circulation system causing some serious chances of stroke or heart attack. The lungs can also get logged with it.
The main objective for treatment or diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis is to prevent or protect the pulmonary circulation system from embolism. A person should immediately reach the doctor or consult any healthcare professional for the treatment process or diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis. This is the first and foremost step for a person that develops this situation.
Superficial veins can also develop blood clots or thrombosis, but is not that dangerous. This is only because these veins have sieve that prevent the deep vein system from getting blood clots. There is no risk of pulmonary embolism from superficial veins.
Possible reasons of deep vein thrombosis?
The body functions properly only when there is a proper flow of blood between different parts of the body. If this did not happen, then it starts developing certain problems for that person. When the flow of blood blocks down or becomes stagnant, then chances are there for it to change in a clot. This is exactly what happens in case of deep vein thrombosis.
There is a constant formation of microscopic clots by the blood in veins. These formations get broken on a continuous basis by the body. It there is any alteration in the balance of resolution and formation of microscopic clots, then chances are there for the appearance of blood clots. This is how deep vein thrombosis can take place.
